What digital footprints did they leave behind!
Computer forensics can be defined as the collection and analysis of data from computer systems, networks, and storage devices in a manner that would be admissible in a court of law. In cases where data is indeed to be admitted in court, the way in which it is collected becomes extremely critical.
Data that is not collected and analysed in a forensically sound manner will not be accepted as evidence due to the possibility that it may have been contaminated. The aim of the investigation is to determine the circumstances surrounding an event carried out through the use of a computer system.
